POPULAR South Indian actress Sneha has hit out at the media for carrying blatant gossip about her, reported Makkal Osai.


She also threatened to take legal action against those who continue writing such gossip.

In an interview, she said actresses were not sex workers and it was unfair to write gossip about them just because they were in the acting profession.

“The media must realise that we too have family and those spreading rumours should understand the pain we undergo because of their action,” she was quoted as saying.

> A Nesa Cooperative member, G. Murugesu, has filed a complaint with the Malaysian Cooperatives Commission, alleging that it had failed to complete a housing project in Kampung Tan Sri Mohd Said in Seremban which it undertook more than 30 years ago, reported Tamil Nesan.

In the proceedings which commenced on Thursday, Murugesu, who joined the cooperative as a member in 1976, said he signed up for the housing project a year later after reading an advertisement.

Sneha had also appealed to the media to treat actresses like any other working woman and not to treat them in a shabby manner. She has requested the press persons to give some respect for their profession and privacy.

Sneha has gone one step further by saying that she would initiate legal action against those who carry ‘defamatory news’ about her in future.

The smiling beauty Sneha seemed to be vexed with lot of rumors spreading about her from a section of media. On issuing a warning to those rumour millers, Sneha said “I have no other option than taking legal action if this trend continues.”


She further says “Actresses are not sex workers. It is not fair to write gossips on them just because they are into acting profession. We too have a family and those spreading rumours should understand the pain we undergo thanks to their acts.”

“I would no more take things easy, I would sure take legal action if this trend continues. I am open to criticism, but not to such cheap acts which agonizes me a lot.” says Sneha

Speaking on her films, the actress says, “This is my 10th year in cinema. I am currently doing a crucial role in Prashanth starrer ‘Ponnan Sankar’ which has dialogues by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Besides, I am playing the lead role in ‘Bhavani IPS’ and Sarath Kumar’s Vidiyal.”

Sarath Kumar and Sneha have teamed up for the first time

Sarath Kumar and Sneha have teamed up for the first time in Vidiyal directed by KR Selvaraj, with music by Dhina.


Once again Sarath will be playing a dual role as father and son in this period drama set in 1940’s, 1970’s and 2010.



The film is produced by Giriguja Films International in association with Sarath’s new production company RRR. Sarath has ideas to produce three films with new faces every year.


The actor says that Pazhassi Raja has given him a new lease of life and he has become a star in Malayalam. He is doing two new films in Malayalam the multi starrer Christian Brothers with Mohanlal, Dileep, Suresh Gopi and another film Oridathoru Postman.


Sarath also said he has a project coming up in Bollywood for which shooting will start in July

The actress who worked out hard at a gym for the movie, is now practising yoga for a sound body and a sound mind.


The ’smiling beauty’ of Tamil cinema is learning yoga from an experienced master and is happy about the positive effects of the age-old practice.



Meanwhile, the actress has set up a mini-gym at her house to maintain her physique.



"An instructor regularly visits Sneha’s place and she spends two hours a day at the gym," said a source.


On her role in Bhavani, Sneha said: "I thought director Kicha was kidding when he approached me to play a police officer. I later realised he was serious. Since I wanted to do justice to the character, I worked hard to tone my body. The output on screen is great."

Vande Matharam is a movie that carries a bold theme. It talks about agrarian problem and offers solution to travails of farmers, who are forced to commit suicide due to poverty in various parts of the country, says producer Henry of Pankaj Productions.


The movie initially titled Aruvadai has been rechristened as Vande Matharam. Since it dwells on a national issue and speaks about the need for patriotism in troubled times, we chose to title it Vande Matharam, he says.



The movie stars Mammooty, Arjun, Sneha, Jai Akash, Malayalam actor Jagadeesh among others in lead roles. Directed by debutant Aravind, Vande Matharam is ready for release this April.


After a gap of six years, Mammmooty is back to do a straight Tamil film. He plays an intelligence officer and Arjun dons the role of a senior cop. Talking more about the film, Henry says, ’Sneha is paired opposite Mammooty, while Arjun is a flamboyant super cop. Nasser as Prime Minister is apt for the role’
